공자 앞에서 문자 쓴다

posted on April 9, 2020

This 잠언 means “Don’t try to teach a fish how to swim”.

Literal Translation / Meaning: Write Hanja in front of Confucius

Use (사용시기) As the name suggests, you would probably use it when someone is showing off and trying to teach an Expert how to do things. 그냥 하는 말이로 말할 수 있지만 꼭 그럴 필요는 없다고 생각합니다. 내가 어떻게 생각하든 이건 심심할 때거나 아무거도 하는게 없을 때 하는 말이죠.

공자 앞에서 문자 쓴다

Vocabulary (어휘) + Grammar (문법)

공자 : Confucius (A scholar from Chine who created Confucianism, not sure what that would mean for now thou)

앞에서 : in front of (here 에서 describes location at, & 앞 is front)

문자 : letter (There is one idiom as 문자 그대로 as well, which means without exaggerating)

쓴다 : to writing

같은 문법로 만든 다른 문장

백화점 앞에서 있대.

사장님 앞에서 그 말을 못 해대.

서울에서 이사했어요
